GFA finally confirms sacking of Coach Milo

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finally announced the sacking of Black Stars Coach Milovan Rajevac. The Executive Council of the GFA said in a statement that it took the decision after reviewing the technical report from the coach, medical reports and the report of the Management Committee following Ghana’s early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2021 tournament.

“After considering the three reports and engagements with key stakeholders, the FA decided to end its relationship with Coach Milovan Rajevac”, it stated.

It continued, “the Association would like to thank Milovan Rajevac and the Management Committee for their service and wish them the very best in their future endeavors.”

The GFA also announced the dissolution of the Black Stars Management Committee as demanded by government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“We will soon announce the reconstituted technical team and management committee after due engagement with all relevant stakeholders”, it added.

The Serbian was handed a two-year contract in September 2021 with the target of qualifying the Black Stars to the World Cup and winning the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Calls for the dismissal of the coach have been loud following the group stage exit of the Black Stars and the humiliating defeat at the hands of Comoros. The team finished at the bottom of the group.

The Black Stars played 8 games, winning 3, drew 2 and lost 3. They scored 9 goals and conceded 10 under the watch of coach Milovan Rajevac.

Ghana’s next assignment is a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 playoff against Nigeria in March 2022.
