John Mahama is our presumptive 2024 candidate- KTQ

Former Security Minister & National Democratic Congress (NDC) kingpin, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, has announced his endorsement of former President John Dramani Mahama as the party’s presidential candidate for 2024.

John Mahama, he said is “our presumptive flag bearer in the coming election”, adding, “I trust him to provide the type of far- sighted leadership and reassuring Presidency the nation is yearning for.”

Though he has not yet announced his interest or decision to put himself up for the position, it is an open secret in the leading opposition party that Mr. Mahama will be overwhelmingly endorsed by NDC executives and supporters across the country as their flag bearer.

Two persons, a former finance minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and a former MCE for Kumasi Kojo Bonsu, have begun campaigning for the NDC presidential candidacy. Despite their crisscrossing the country, majority of their party members say they cannot race it out with John Mahama.

Mr. Totobi Quakyi’s Wednesday announcement, though not surprising, confirms the view held by many political analysts and the NDC’s supporters that John Mahama is their presumptive candidate, and they are not expecting anyone to contest him, or make any headway in competition with him.

In his open letter to members and supporters of the NDC, Uncle KTQ also stated that he is focused “on contributing my widow’s mite to the victory of the NDC and John Mahama”.

“Let’s get to work together for a decisive win”, he added.
