AFCON 2021: Nigeria’s Super Eagles land in Garoua, Cameroon

Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, have arrived in Cameroon ahead of Sunday’s kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The team and officials travelled to their base in Garoua, Cameroon from Abuja via a chartered flight, all set to win their 4th Africa Cup of Nations crown. A total of 25 players from the invited 28 arrived in Cameroon with defenders, Jamilins and Tyrone Ebuehi as well as striker, Odion Jude Ighalo yet to link up with the team.

Ahead of their departure, the players expressed optimism that they would do the country proud in the tournament. Nigeria has won the continental showpiece on three different occasions in 1980, 1994 and 2013 and look primed to repeat the feat in Cameroon.

The Nigerian Super Eagles will open their campaign against the Pharaohs Egypt on Sunday at the Round Adjia stadium, Garoua.
