President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan as the new Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), according to a statement released today by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
Brig. Gen. Annan, described in the statement as a “well-respected, dedicated, principled, and patriotic Commissioned Officer of the Ghana Army,” is tasked with “resetting” the Customs Division and supporting the GRA in meeting its revenue targets as Ghana works towards economic recovery.
The move comes as the government focuses on improving revenue collection and strengthening key institutions. The President expressed confidence in Brig. Gen. Annan’s ability to bring his experience and leadership to bear on the challenges facing the Customs Division.
The statement also expressed the President’s gratitude to the outgoing Commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, for his service to the Customs Division and the nation.
The appointment of Brig. Gen. Annan is effective immediately.
