Former President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day tour of the Western North Region. He will be visiting all nine constituencies of the region, from where he will continue to the Ashanti Region.
Considered the clear front runner to lead the NDC to the 2024 general elections, Mr. Mahama is visiting all 275 constituencies in the country to campaign ahead of the NDC’s May 13 presidential primaries.
Mr. Mahama will use the opportunity to interact with supporters, branch and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and speak to some national issues, including the development of Western North.
The former president is campaigning on the theme, ‘Building the Ghana we want Together’, assuring the rank and file of the NDC that the campaign for 2024 victory will be anchored around the party’s branches and wards.
He has so far visited 179 constituencies in ten regions, meeting over 251,000 delegates on his rounds.
“I will do all I can, as I have always done, to provide the necessary campaign logistics and it will be your responsibility as branch executives to work hard and mobilise all the votes in your electoral areas for a decisive win in December 2024”, Mr. Mahama has stated.
The Western North Region is a new region, created in 2019. Mahama is hoping to win the majority of the votes from Western North, with a promise to improve the living conditions of the people and enhancing social amenities.
In 2020, Mr. Mahama and the NDC made a pledge to invest in agriculture, education, and healthcare in the region. He has also promised to create conditions for new and more jobs, and improve infrastructure in the region.
