The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) has announced that the planned review of cash-out transaction fees, scheduled to begin on July 1, 2023, has been suspended until further notice.
The Association, which has kicked against the increment, announced on its Facebook page that cash-out transactions would continue to be capped at the current flat fee of GH¢10.
“Hello Valued Agent, the planned review of cash-out transaction fees, scheduled for July 1, 2023, has been put on hold until further notice”, the Association announced.
This decision comes as a relief to many Ghanaians who have expressed their dissatisfaction with the recent announcement by MTN Ghana to charge a 1% fee for cash-out transactions below GH¢2,000 and a flat fee of GH¢20 for transactions of GH¢2,000 and above.
MTN Ghana has also warned customers not to pay any other fee to MoMo agents.
“This will be charged to your wallet. Do not pay any other fee to any MoMo agent.”
