NPP paints Kumasi red, blue, white as it heads for its delegates conference

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is heading to the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, this weekend for their 2021 annual delegates conference.

Sunday’s event at the Hero’s park is taking place on the theme, “NPP- Our resolve, our determination and commitment to Ghana’s development”.

Major roads in the city have been clad in the red, blue and white colours of the party, while some roads are receiving a facelift ahead of the Conference. With some supporters of the party openly expressing their dissatisfaction with the pace of development of the region by the President Nana Akufo-Addo government, the rushed work on some roads, fixing of streetlights among others is seen as an attempt to help douse any further criticisms.

The conference is expected to discuss the welfare of members of the party, consider recommendations from the constituency and regional delegates conferences on how to improve the fortunes of the party and also initiatives to support the government to enable it to break the eight-year cycle of governance.

The holding of the annual delegates conference is in line with Article 10(2) of the NPP Constitution sub-section 1, which calls for a meeting once every year to among others deliberate and make appropriate resolutions on the national chairperson’s statement; the General Secretary’s Report; the National Treasurer’s Statement of Accounts among other provisions.
