Police arrests soldier for reckless 31st night warning shots

Ghana Police has confirmed the arrest of a soldier, Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong, who was captured in a social media video discharging a fire arm at the A&C Shopping Mall in East Legon, Accra on the night of 31st December, 2021.

CCTV footage that has since become available also showed the suspect loading several rounds of ammunition into the AK 47 in his car, before firing several shots into the air.

A statement from the Ghana Police Service says the suspect’s arrest follows a joint military and police collaboration.

The suspect, according to the statement, is currently in the custody of the military police.

There is currently no information on a second person who was seen in the videos, also wielding an AK 47, trying to stop the suspect from further discharge of his fire arm.
