Why Ghana needs a reset, not an upgrade.

As the debate rages on social media, it’s essential to examine the state of our nation and determine the best course of action.

Since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took power, Ghana has faced numerous challenges that necessitate a fundamental transformation. On Metro TV on Monday, Mrs Mona Quartey rightly said that anytime Ghana is set on the path of transformation, a government comes in and sets us back, causing us to lose the fundamentals put in place to kickstart our transformation.

Here are five significant reasons why Ghana needs a reset rather than an upgrade:

  1. Economic Mismanagement: The NPP’s economic policies have led to a significant increase in debt, inflation, and unemployment, as well as general hunger. A reset would allow for a fresh start, prioritising fiscal discipline and sustainable growth, which John Mahama and the NDC’s manifesto would cater to when it forms government.
  2. Corruption and Nepotism: The current administration has been plagued by corruption scandals and nepotistic appointments. A reset would enable the implementation of robust anti-corruption measures and merit-based appointments, which John Mahama also committed to in the 2024 manifesto.
  3. Deteriorating Healthcare: Ghana’s healthcare system has suffered under the NPP, with inadequate resources, infrastructure, and personnel. A reset would focus on revitalising the healthcare sector, ensuring quality access for all citizens. John Mahama did not run away from this reality and promised to tackle it head-on.
  4. Education in Shambles: The NPP’s education policies have been criticised for ineffectiveness, leading to a decline in academic standards and infrastructure. A reset would prioritise education reform, emphasising quality, accessibility, and affordability. Rather than sloganeering, John Mahama will deliver on these with the superior policies committed to in the 2024 manifesto.
  5. Environmental Degradation: The NPP’s environmental policies have been lacking, resulting in widespread pollution, deforestation, and climate change vulnerabilities. A reset would prioritise sustainable ecological practices, make our cities cleaner again, and perpetually end the menace of galamsey, ensuring a healthy and thriving ecosystem for future generations.

In conclusion, Ghana’s challenges run deep, requiring a fundamental transformation rather than a mere upgrade. The fundamentals that would merit an upgrade are lacking essentially under the current NPP leadership, especially Dr Bawumia, who seeks to disassociate himself from the mess anytime confronted.

A reset under the leadership of HE John Dramani Mahama and the NDC would address these pressing issues, setting Ghana on a path towards true transformation, development, and prosperity. Let us choose the right course for our nation’s future.

Vote Right, Vote Mahama, Vote NDC.
